Jukebox ?

          Due to the lack of upload bandwidth, Arrhythmia, my radio station, only streams Indian music, especially Hindi. Many friends of mine wanted me to develop this interactive site, where they could choose the songs they want to listen to and play them at their convenience. And thus "Syber-Jukebox" was born.

            After a thorough research on the internet to find the best script that could facilitate this, I was very impressed with "Netjuke" a PHP (front end) / MySql (back end) script that is not only easy to install but also is platform/Player independent.  Winamp, Windows Media Player, Real Player, Musicmatch are all supported.  After numerous attempts and with a little help from my cousin (Jyoti) (I had no clue about PHP/MySql) I was finally successful in running the script successfully and also modifying it to my personal needs.

               The sites are self-explanatory with screen tips explaining the functions of every icon/text.  I have some pointers below to make navigation easier:

• Though registration is not compulsory to access the songs on the site, I recommend it as it gives u access to more features such as playlist saving, accessing other members playlists and customizing the colors on your page.

• You can browse my site in various ways: artist name, album name, track name, track time and genre.

• Once you find the music you would like to play, you can select the songs you would like to listen to and click on "play selected". In addition, you can also randomize your selection. If you are registered, an option to save the playlist will be given. You can add songs constantly to your playlist from all the directories or you can create multiple playlists.

• Clicking on the "Random" link on the page opens up a new window where you can select the number of songs, the genre(s) (select multiple genre's by holding down the CTRL key) and then click on "Play Random Music" to start streaming.

• The "Community" link displays the  other user's playlists (requires registration)  as well as Top 10 most played songs.

• After you register a new tab "Preferences" appears which gives the options to change the icon set and also page colors to your desired settings.
